Our Work
World Film Collective reaches young people in their own environment, uses equipment that is sustainable, accessible and affordable and does not charge the young people to participate.
Participants are aged between 10 - 25 years and are living in communities which are facing issues such as low employment opportunities, exclusion from mainstream society, living below the poverty line and poor access to education.
We deliver the whole programme over three years. The World Film Collective programme has four levels, each one comprising of 50 hours, focusing on different genres and filmmaking techniques each time.
Final films are distributed to audiences through our website, social-networking platforms and are entered into film festivals, creating opportunities for cultural exchange.
As a result of World Film Collective Workshops,
- two students have been offered internships with film companies in Johannesburg
- three others were commissioned to make a film which was screened at the 2008 MobileActive conference in Johannesburg
- the student film "Trains" was screened at the 2010 Pocket Films Festival in Paris
- students in East London received an NVQ Level 1 and 2 in Media and Visual Arts as a result of the workshop

Upcoming Workshops
In the coming months, World Film Collective will deliver the following workshops:
Palestine
Following a second successful workshop in the Balata Camp last year, a new workshop is taking place in 2011 in the Ne'lin Centre in Ramallah.
The workshop is going ahead with the support of the Quattan Foundation and the focus is on teaching the children to make documentaries.
UK
Workshops on sports and news journalism will be taught in East London, Leeds, West London and Cardiff by our brilliant new team of film makers.
This will build the foundation of the World Film Collective's London Olympics 2012 project, where children from around the country will plan, arrange, shoot and edit their films on the popular global event.
World Film Collective has opportunities to expand its work within new programme countries in 2011 and to do so, we need your support. If you are interested in donating to our work, please donate. There are also plenty of ways to show your support by getting involved!
